Why Institute-Level Profit Hides the Problem
An institute that is comfortably profitable overall is usually running at least one batch at a loss and paying for it out of another. At institute level that is invisible — the figure at the bottom is positive, so nothing looks wrong. Split the same numbers by batch and the picture usually resolves into a small number of batches carrying the rest: a morning batch of six students with a visiting faculty member on an hourly rate, running against an evening batch of thirty.
What Gets Allocated, and What Trips People Up
Fee income attributes to a batch cleanly. Teacher cost mostly does too, including per-student payouts, which change every month and are the line owners most often get wrong by hand. The judgement call is shared overhead — rent, electricity, the front desk — and the honest answer is that allocating it by student count is good enough to make the decision. The two decisions this report exists for are whether to keep running a batch and whether to move a teacher, and neither needs the overhead split to be perfect.
